Dimitrios Giannakoudakis was born in Thessaloniki on 24 May 1981. He attended Mantoulidis private high school having achieved a scholarship, due to gaining first awards from participating successfully in several Pan-Hellenic Mathematics competitions. As a student, Greek Chemistry Association also awarded him for his distinction in the Pan-Hellenic Chemistry contest.
He graduated in the third place among 140 other students, with grade 7,98, in the department of Chemistry of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and continued his master studies in the field of Physical Chemistry & Electrochemistry of Materials in the same department (grade 9,34). After that, he attended and completed his second interdisciplinary master at Chemistry Teaching and New Educational Technologies (ΔΙΧΗΝΕΤ).
He served as the youngest chairman of the Association of Chemists of Northern Greece as well as a member of the Regional department of the Association of Greek Chemists of Central and Western Macedonia and a member of the Committee of the Chemistry chamber Representatives (EEX).
He is working at Piraeus Bank at the field of Green Product. At the same time he works as an educator in secondary education, afterschool supporting programs and at the private institute IEK Paster.
His father, Andreas Giannakoudakis is a Professor and President in the Chemistry Department of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and ex vice dean. His mother Eleni Deliyianni is also o Professor in the Chemistry Department of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He brother is Antonios Giannakoudakis, who graduated in the faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and completed his MBA in the University of Edinburgh.
